The Adventures Of Huckleberry and Finn. The sequel to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, is widely known as being amongst one of the Great American novels, was published in 1885 in America. This outstanding novel, which is written in first person, reveals the storyline of three boys, who run away from home, create a marvellous friendship on their exotic adventures through thee mid 1800’s America. Causing mischief along the way, the boys, “Huck”, “Tom” and “Jim” surprisingly still manage to return home alive. Well… Just about!
Through my eyes, the book is pure brilliance, Throughout, the story and vocabulary is colourful and alluring. Furthermore, the exhilarant events churn your stomach upside down as you really can’t help but turn to the next page to expose the cliff hangers. A complete joy to read.
However, the ending can be considered as a cop out. This is because, towards the end we realise that the boys were running away for no reason. Which was quite the let-down. In addition, this may lead readers to dislike the book as the ending contrasts such an exceptional start and middle of the book.
In conclusion, the book was very enjoyable and I would certainly read it again and recommend it to others. It was a pleasure. On the other hand, with a few tweeks, like containing racial slurs around the book, the novel would be flawless. But, personally still one of my favourite books.
