Book review on How To Stop Time.
How to stop time, written by Matt Haig. This is an amazing book about a man,
called Tom Hazard, who is 439 years old and he is part of a group that goes by
the name as the ‘Albas’. The ‘Albas’ is a small group of people in the world who
are immortal/ live to their 400’s or even longer. To learn more about the
character, we are taken back in time when Tom is living the early years of his
life and how he realises what is happening to him. Throughout the book Tom
compares the present time to the past giving the reader thoughts of what life
was like 400 years ago. There are many secrets within the ‘Albas’ community
and if you reveal anything about the group then the ‘Albas’ leader Hendrich
will turn on you, meaning that Tom is not allowed to fall in love with anyone or
be with anyone and he has to change his identity every 8 years to stay hidden.
Towards the end of the book he experiences this whilst trying to search for a
loved one.
However, I feel that the book drags on for a while and there are points at when
it can finish earlier. On the other hand, I think that this book is really good on
how it gives a different view point on history and I would recommend this
book if you like adventure and a bit of a puzzling twist.

A fascinating, gripping romance between Tessa, a girl with a sweet reliable boyfriend back home, a ‘perfect’ mother trying to cover up Tessa’s past dodgy life and aspiring dreams to become a journalist and Hardin, a boy, rude- to the point of cruelty, completely ignorant with a very complicated home life. The polar opposites find themselves falling for each other whilst insisting they despise each other- the exasperating yet breathe taking reality of ‘love’.

With a constant stream of frat parties, drunk college students and a roommate with fire red hair, will Tessa get the great experience of college she expected? After every problem faced, Tessa finds herself being compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath his cruelty and lies. Their relationship is a roller-coaster ride, not only for Tessa and Hardin but for us as an audience. It is a jaw clenching, nail biting love story, not only interesting but relatable.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in drama, comedy and romance with a slightly more mature frame of mind. It is nothing like your typical ‘romance’ book, it portrays the ins and outs of every relationship.

The Fault In Our Stars

Fault in our stars by John Green : this is an incredible book about a  girl called Hazel who suffered from Thyroid ( a type of cancer) originally but now has issues with her lungs. She tells her story about battling cancer but that seems to not be the only thing she is battling as she falls in love with a boy named Augustus Waters who had also been suffering from cancer and has lost one leg to it . As Augustus is introduced , Hazels life is utterly changed forever. 

This is an incredible book that is insightful, bold and raw . It will make you laugh and cry and wanting more . The genre for the book is young adult fiction and it was published in 2012 on the 10th of January. The age rate for this book is 14+ and it has 313 pages . This book is fantastic and really makes you feel many emotions upon reading it . I hope you enjoy the book!

Pride and Prejudice

In Pride and Prejudice, it focuses on the Bennet family, mainly Elizabeth throughout the story. The story starts with “a single man with large fortune” (Mr Bingley) renting a house in the area (Hertfordshire) and Mrs Bennet wants him as a suitor for one of her daughters. The story then progresses with Mr
Bingley’s friend, Mr Darcy, finding love in Elizabeth but Elizabeth finding him obnoxious with his pride.

After reading Pride and Prejudice, written by Jane Austen, I found it very enjoyable to read, despite my first impression at the beginning of the book. With me being a very big lover of thriller books, filled with murder and massive plots, reading this book was quite a contrast for what I am used to reading.
However, I found the language to help with the books storyline, adding an element that when the dialogue switch between characters and narrator, it kept me engaged in the story as the styles of language were matched.

The book lives up to its’ title with the pride, represented by Mr Darcy, and the prejudice, later realised by Miss Elizabeth. This leads the story to have a deeper meaning, making it even more enjoyable.

In conclusion, I found the story to be very enjoyable as it provided a casual reading with its fairly loose plot and relaxed language.

Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet is promoted as one of the most popular and amazing books in history for romance and hailed a great classic. Originally written by William Shakespeare, the book depicts two households who are involved in a feud while they ultimately fall in love. At first Romeo Montague is in love with Juliet Capulet yet at first she doesn’t know he exists; also to make matters worse for poor Romeo Juliet is betrothed to another man (Paris) and is being ushered firmly to become his blushing bride as he has a vast amount of wealth. Poor guy.

The book is a bit more difficult to read than your average novel as it Is written in the form of a play, in which you have to sift through the stage directions and such like in order to make sense of what is actually going on within the story; to be frank the read is tedious at times but is sure to give you that warm, loved- up feeling as you progress throughout the book and watch Romeo and Juliet’s love grow.

Personally my favourite character is Mercutio because he is quite

 light-hearted at first and very sassy but as the book progresses so does his prominent concern for his dear friend Romeo and as his worry grows his humorous mannerisms go away, and he turns into a person who takes life very seriously until his untimely death.

The book, being a romantic novel becomes a horrific tragedy where both of the feuding families are bought together by grief and the pain they feel due to losing the two star crossed lovers as they commit suicide together to proclaim their everlasting love.

I found the book very interesting and by the end I was totally and utterly emotionally invested in it, with plenty violence, conflict and passionate romance, who wouldn’t be entertained?
