In Annihilation, the first part of an imaginatively marketed and beautifully produced trilogy,
the novelist and publishing entrepreneur Jeff VanderMeer sets out to create a lasting
monument to the uncanny by revisiting a pitiless focus on physical and psychological detail.
An alien invasion site. Assimilative spores. An unfurling of promiscuous alien biology.
On the first page we are told that the women's enterprise is doomed. Their equipment is
either nonsensical, or inadequate, or antiquated. Their training and instructions are
sometimes vague, sometimes misleading. They cannot recall the moment they crossed into
Area X, and they have no clear idea how they will leave. They cannot agree about what they
are seeing and three of them are all the while half-aware of being hypnotically manipulated
by their team leader.
You enter Area X with them, thinking the uncanny must lurk in some particular spot. The
lighthouse? The reed beds? The ‘tower’? Very quickly you spot your mistake, as a subtle,
well-engineered wrongness turns up in every character, every deed, every observation until,
at last, you find yourself afraid to turn the page.
Personally I really likes this book and its abstract story line where you don’t know what is
going to happen to the Women’s Enterprise. I rate this book a 9/10 as I don’t think the
language is that easy but it is bearable. So I would say only read this if you are a good reader
or are at least confident. Overall I would read this book again and I recommend it too
anyone who likes mystery, thrillers and/or abstract story lines causing confusion and
excitement from paper instead of a screen. This book is defiantly good for anyone who
doesn’t like books as I don’t like reading myself, and I find this a very good book that kept
me up WANTING to read it.

Invictus
I read the book Invictus by Ryan Graudin. I liked the book because it has a good story line, however it is quite a long book at just over 450 pages. I wouldn’t normally choose to read a science fiction book normally. I wouldn’t recommend this book to someone who doesn’t like reading or struggles to understand the story easily. The book is about the son of a time traveller from 2354 AD a Roman gladiator, Farway Gaius McCarthy’s very existence defies the laws of nature. After failing his entrance exam into the government program, Far will have to settle for captaining a time travelling crew to steal valuables from the past. During a routine heist on the sinking titanic, Far meets a mysterious girl named Eliot who always seems to be one step ahead. Armed with the knowledge that history is not as steady as it seems, she will lead far and his team on a race through time to set things right before the clock runs out.
The Iron Man
I read this book called ‘the iron man’. I read it all in one go and I
absolutely loved it. It shows how an unwanted enemy called ‘the iron
man’ ends up saving the world and bring it all back to peace. Starting
off with the iron man all in pieces and lost, then they get brought to
back together to be big and fearful but also strong and brave who
only eats the metal of the earth, all from the help of a little boy. This
Science fiction novel is an easy book to read but also an intriguing
and unravelling story getting more hooked as the book goes on.
The only thing is dislike about this book how to shows humanity as
horrible and have no respect but it does change when the iron man
ends up helping out the humans and then it bring the world too
peace. It is an easy and very interesting book to read if you’re not the
best at reading. It is based after the WW2 when the world was in
pure hatred and dislike for each other.
