In Emma Young’s book, ‘She Myself and I’, she presents a new twist to her usual books and novels. She writes the story of a girl named Rosa, who is 18-years-old and suffering from a terminal nerve disease. Rosa is a courageous teen who just wants a shot at life as herself. Halfway across the world, a girl named Sylvia becomes brain-dead after a terrible accident. Her parents know there is no chance to save their daughter, but there is a chance to save Rosa. Finally, they decide to perform the first brain transplant, making Rosa a true miracle. The only problem is: Rosa is unsure about who she is anymore, and whether she is now meant to live her life as Sylvia, or Rosa. This book starts out very slow and rather dull. However, once you are introduced to the characters and know all of their different traits and personalities, the tension builds up (especially towards the end). It’s a little bit difficult book to read but I would recommend it to people who don’t want to read a huge novel. I think that this book is definitely worth a read and gives a wider understanding of how lucky we are to live the lives that we are living and to cherish every moment like it’s our last.
